MOTION

MOTION

Motion: Change of a position of an object with time.

Distance travelled: The length of the actual path travelled by the object.

SI unitàMeter

 Displacement: Displacement is the least distance between the initial and final

Position of the object.

SI UnitàMeter

Note: If the object comes back to its starting position then the displacement is zero.

 Speed: Distance travelled in unit time.

SI Unità m/s or ms-1     Speed = Distance/time

 Velocity: Rate of change of displacement.   SI Unit à m/s or  ms-1

Acceleration: Rate of change of velocity.  SI Unit à m/s2 or  ms-1

a=v-u/t

 Negative Acceleration is called as retardation

Equations  of Motion

v= u + at                    v2 + 2as                     s = ut + ½ at2

u = initial velocity                 v = Final velocity                  a = acceleration

s = Distance                          t=time.

 Note :

When a body starts from rest u = 0

When moving body comes to rest v = o

Uniform Motion: A body covers equal distances in equal intervals of time.

Non uniform motion: a Body covers unequal distance in equal intervals of time.
